How to use this platform to create or join a
partnership to control ASF

This platform can help you with both:

  • Requesting support: When you are seeking someone with particular skills or resources to help with a particular task or partnership.
  • Offering support: When you have the skills or the resources to contribute to an existing partnership or perform a particular task.

Any type of cooperation around the common goal of ASF control is valuable and will make a difference.

To express your interest in cooperating on ASF control, submit a proposal in the Cooperation area:

Submission stages:

1. On the submission form you will be asked to explain your idea to potential partners by providing the following details:

If you are requesting support:

  • What is/are the reason(s) for this work: what is the problem to solve or why action is needed.
  • What role would your organization/yourself play in the partnership.
  • What skills or resources does the partnership already have and can offer.
  • What additional skills or resources does the partnership need to achieve its objectives.
  • How long is the work expected to last.

If you are offering support:

  • What skills or resources can you offer to support a particular area of work on ASF.
  • How long and where would you be available to provide support.

2. Submit the post online.

3. Wait for the post to appear on the Cooperation Area.

4. Once your post is visible, interested users will contact you directly (your email address will appear on the
post on the website).

When completing the form online, you will be asked to select the type of cooperation you are posting about. See the examples below to help you select the most appropriate theme:

  • Disease prevention and control: activities dealing with farm waste, control wild boars or keep them out of a village or farm, guidance about transportation of animals, detection of ASF clinical signs.
  • Disease awareness and training: In person or online activities related to detecting clinical signs of ASF, assessing on-farm biosecurity, tagging pigs for traceability systems.
  • Feed and other on-farm support: Offer of animal feed as safe alternative to swill feeding, advise on farm biosecurity risks and management options to prevent/control ASF.
  • Outbreak response: What happens when ASF has been identified on your farm.
  • Other: Any other posts.

This platform is not meant to be used for direct business promotion or advertising. Posts of this nature will not be accepted.

We strongly encourage you to post about any opportunity for cooperation to achieve ASF control, whether it is a small-scale initiative or a larger project. The most important thing is to find and connect with the right partners to achieve results together.

Simple tips for a successful partnership

Before you join a partnership or ask for support, consider the following elements:

  • Have a plan on how to achieve a set of objectives or complete a specific task with a clear timeline.
  • Agree on the roles and responsibilities of the different partners, including who will take the lead and coordinate actions and people. It should be clear from the start what each of the partners brings to the
    initiative.
  • Have a plan to gather and maintain the resources needed to achieve the proposed objectives and do
    the work.
  • Adopt open communication between partners, from the start and throughout the whole process.
