ASEAN ASF Workshop

To prevent ASF, WOAH is supporting the development of ASEAN ASF Prevention and Control Strategy, with the purpose to coordinate actions to effectively prevent the spread and mitigate the impacts of African swine fever in South-East Asia.

A workshop with the participation of the ASEAN Member States (AMS), partners and experts contributed to the development of the ASEAN ASF Prevention and Control Strategy.  

The objectives of the ASEAN ASF workshop were to:  

  • Discuss and provide inputs on the draft ASEAN ASF Prevention and Control Strategy
  • Discuss and come up with a draft M&E framework and priority actions to implement the ASEAN ASF Prevention and Control Strategy
  • Update Members on the global and regional ASF situation and circulating ASFV in South-East Asia and receive update on the current ASF situation in the affected countries
  • Share experiences and lessons learnt in implementation of ASF prevention and control measures by AMS
  • Provide a platform to Members to discuss on various challenges faced in ASF prevention and control, and solution to address some of the challenges.

Reporting on African swine fever and wild pigs in Asia and the Pacific

Reporting on African swine fever and wild pigs in Asia and the Pacific

A report recommended by the Standing Group of Experts on African Swine Fever in Asia and the Pacific reviews the current knowledge of the ecology, distribution, and role in swine disease epidemiology of wild pigs in the region. The report also makes recommendations on ways to manage populations of wild pigs, their interface with domestic pigs and other actions that will contribute to the prevention and control of ASF in Asia and the Pacific.
