ASF Partnership Platform launch meeting

On 12 and 13 June, more than 40 public and private stakeholders from across Southeast Asia gathered in Bangkok for the launch of the ASF Partnership Platform which provided a really open and stimulating environment for exchange of ideas and experiences about ASF!

The two-day event was organised and facilitated by the TAFS forum, with support from FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, the US Defense Threat Reduction Agency and the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. All participants embraced the opportunity to discuss the importance of exchanging practical information to advance ASF management in the region.

One key message was that the ASF Partnership Platform is not limited to a website: it aims to unite a community of stakeholders around the sharing of their own experiences, both positive and negative, and regardless of their background or roles in the pig production chain.

There were some very positive exchanges, animated by the TAFS forum and international experts, Prof. Dirk Pfeiffer from the City University of Hong Kong, and Dr. Klaus Depner from Germany’s Federal Research Institute for Animal Health.

There was a definite interest in holding regular events in the region to bring public and private stakeholders and international partners under the umbrella of the platform, to continue practical discussions and exchanges about ASF management.

Now that the ASF Partnership Platform has been launched, let the collective learning and cooperation journey begin!

Together against ASF!
